Dr. Emilie Wilson Returns to Partners in Health Care, Naturally
Partners in Health Care, Naturally is pleased to announce that Dr. Emilie Wilson, ND, EAMP will be returning to our practice in July 2017. Dr. Wilson comes to us from Seattle, Washington and is proud to return home to Prescott, AZ to serve our community by providing high-quality healthcare. Dr. Wilson specializes in mental health and digestive support; additionally, she uses genetic medicine testing to provide highly individualized treatments.
Dr. Wilson was drawn to become a naturopathic physician and acupuncturist during her time working at Partners in Health Care, Naturally as an assistant and dispensary employee. In the four years she worked here prior to becoming an ND and acupuncturist, Dr. Wilson worked closely with Dr. Godman and had observed, time and time again, how naturopathic medicine administered by caring and compassionate doctors changes lives. She was inspired to help people reclaim their lives and their health as a naturopathic physician and acupuncturist. She attended Bastyr University in Seattle, WA, where she earned a doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and a Master's degree in Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine.
Dr. Wilson describes naturopathic medicine as "highly individualized and deeply creative medicine", and says that "by understanding you as a unique person, we can identify imbalances that keep you from feeling well, and together we can create your unique treatment plan so you can get back to living your life."
Dr. Wilson specializes in mental health because she was initially drawn to working with people with anxiety and depression, and she has seen that natural therapeutics provide much-needed support in a person's mental well-being. She is passionate about understanding how physical imbalances can affect a person's mental and emotional health, and she works with her patients to restore balance physically, mentally, and emotionally. She's worked with many patients to help them reclaim their lives from mental health and neurological conditions including depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, bipolar disease, migraines, and more. As she says, "I want to more fully understand the place where body and mind meet: where our physical experiences affect our mental and emotional experiences, and vice versa." Dr. Wilson often uses genetic testing to provide highly individualized treatments for patients living with mental health conditions.
She also specializes in optimizing digestion because she believes that healthy digestion is critical to healing from any illness. She works with her patients to support optimal digestion as the very first step in healing. She has treated conditions and chronic symptoms including heartburn, gas and bloating, chronic nausea, constipation, IBS, IBD, food allergies and food sensitivities, and many others. Personally, Dr. Wilson is passionate about good food and loves to cook, which made a natural connection to supporting healthy digestion.
Dr. Wilson uses vitamin, mineral, and nutrient therapies, herbal remedies, homeopathy, diet and lifestyle therapies, and others to help her patients feel their best. When indicated, she may prescribe other treatments including hormone therapies or some pharmaceuticals. Additionally, she has received additional training in craniosacral therapy, which she often combines with acupuncture treatments to help re-balance the brain and nervous system.
When she's not at the office working with patients, she's often cooking or shopping at the farmer's market, out on a hike, or spending time with her friends, family, and pets. She loves to write and teach, and looks forward to holding talks and classes for the Prescott community. She also loves to travel and always looks forward to her next adventure!
"Dr. Wilson is amazing. As a newcomer curious about acupuncture and naturopathic medicine, she took the time to explain everything in great detail, answering every question I had with ease. Her dedication, passion, and expertise made me feel comfortable. I recommend Dr. Wilson highly for those interested in acupuncture or naturopathic medicine." - E.N.
